22718802BOOK: HOW TO SAY I LOVE YOU OUT LOUD

AUTHOR: KAROLE COZZO

FORMAT / PUBLISHER: ARC / SWOON READS

Synopsis1
Words are strong. Love is stronger.
When Jordyn Michaelson’s autistic brother joins her at her elite school, she’s determined not to let anyone know they’re related. Even if that means closing herself off to all her closest friends, including charming football stud Alex Colby. But despite her best intentions, she just can’t shake the memory of kissing Alex last summer, and the desire to do it again.
Can Jordyn find the courage to tell Alex how she really feels—and the truth about her family—before he slips away forever?

Fave quotes lines
  • “But how can you miss someone you never really had. What right do you have to miss when you were the person who walked away from them.” page 10
  • “It’s just hard hearing people make a joke out of your life. Some things aren’t really that funny and sometimes people just have no idea.” page 70
  • “My life might not be perfect but I’m really glad it’s mine” page 214

 book review
*I would like to thank Swoon Reads for gracing me an ARC of this book*
First of all, I would like to tell all of you to not to judge this book by its title.
You might say:
“Oh, there’s the phrase “I LOVE YOU” in this book. Maybe it’s another love story bla-bla.”
“NAH, cliche love stories again.”
“Just an ordinary contemporary to be published.”
IF YOU THINK IT’S ONE OF THEM, THEN YOU’RE ABSOLUTELY WRONG.
You know what? The BEST thing that I really loved about this book is that it’s family-oriented. Most probably 80% of this book revolved to Jordyn’s family and I REALLY LOVE STORIES LIKE THAT.
Jordyn. Jordyn’s afraid of being talked about. I don’t want to be annoyed with her decision of not telling others that his brother is autistic. I even asked myself this, “If you were in Jordyn’s position, would you rather introduce him to them or not?”
I still haven’t thought of the right answer. It’s really difficult. It’s easy to say “YES” because you’re not in Jordyn’s position but let’s think of the fact that not everyone in this world are open-minded and mature.
This book made me aware that we’re so lucky to have a family. Even though we’re experiencing undesirable things in life, we’re so FREAKING lucky.
I once met a friend 8 years ago. He can’t speak properly nor express his feelings through actions because he’s a special child. We were doing our best to understand and to mingle with him. Some of my classmates were bullying him and it made me sad. They were very immature and very insensitive. What if they put themselves in his position and treat them the way they were treating the special child? Of course, they’ll feel degraded. They’ll definitely have self-despair.
Another thing that I really loved about this book is Alex Colby! He’s my fave book boyfriend right now. I just wish he exists in real life. (YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN IF YOU’LL READ THE BOOK.)
This book comes out in August 2015 and you need to buy this ASAP. You’ll thank Ms. Karole Cozzo for writing this book. This will always have a special place in my heart. IT’S BEYOND AMAZING.

AUTHOR Q&A – CHRISTINE BRAE

YmI7_dlePageflex Persona [document: PRS0000035_00030]SYNOPSIS OF HER BOOK FROM GOODREADS:

(SOURCE: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23121753-in-this-life?from_search=true&search_version=service )

“Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere, They’re in each other all along.”
Rumi They say that life is full of choices. When you’re young and idealistic, you believe that the path you choose is the road that will lead you to your destiny. But what if, along the way, fate decides to step in, and no amount of logic or rationality or even prayers can save you from your fortune? When the sacrifices you make, the love that you find, and the bright promise of the future are all snatched away from you, you’re left alone to pick up the pieces of your life. This is a story about love, found in a faraway place by two very unlikely people. It is also a story about friendship and loyalty and fighting for what you have despite the illogical mystery of fate. It is a story of faith and acceptance, and learning that even the best-laid plans are powerless against the alignment of the universe. From the beaches of Thailand to the streets of New York, three friends, Anna, Dante, and Jude will learn the hard way that once providence steps in, there is nothing in the world that can change what is truly meant to be.

  • Who inspired you to write your novels?
My writing is inspired by many of life’s experiences. There are people who have come and gone that have touched my life in so many ways. I am inspired by many things, thoughts, people, places and events.
  • What’s your hobby aside from writing books?
When not writing, I’m a voracious reader. I also love to run, I’m a runner. I love to travel. I love being with my family.
  • What’s your definition of true friendship?
True friendship can outlast the test of time and distance. Loyalty defines what true friendship is to me.
  • Are you excited to come here in the PH?
Oh my gosh! YES!!! I am so excited! And nervous as heck. I can’t wait to go home and see my friends and family. I can’t wait to meet all of you and spend time just catching up.
  • Are you working on another project right now?
Yes, my fourth book is currently being edited – I’m hoping to have news for everyone pretty soon. I have a pretty solid idea for a new book, but work has been so intense lately, I’m going to have to take a step back until my work life slows down a little bit.
  • If yes, describe IT 🙂
My new book, In this Life is a philosophical view of life and love, friendship and fate. Aside from it being a romance (obviously, haha) it is going to be different from my previous other books. I can’t wait for you all to read it!
  • Give me one word that best describes Christine Brae.
Focused.
Thank you so much, Jasmine, for having me over on your blog. What an honor it is for me, and I look forward to meeting you soon!

BOOK REVIEW – HEIST

51ZEHNcRfHL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_BOOK: HEIST

AUTHOR: JEFF DIAMANT

FORMAT / PUBLISHER: ARC / SOURCEBOOKS LANDMARK

Synopsis1
The audacity of the act was breathtaking.
On October 5, 1997, FBI agents gathered at the Loomis, Fargo & Co. warehouse in Charlotte, North Carolina, to watch a security videotape of a man loading stacks of cash into a pushcart and wheeling them from the vault. The cart held about $2 million, and the thief made multiple trips.
They already knew who he was-David Ghantt, a Loomis Fargo employee. And the company soon calculated how much was missing–$17 million. But the FBI had scant clues as to where Ghantt had fled and who might have helped him.
As the people of the Carolinas would soon learn, discretion was not the hallmark of the heist’s perpetrators.
Word trickled in to the FBI that Ghantt had a romantic interest in a former coworker, Kelly Campbell, who one day visited a Toyota dealership to purchase a minivan with twenty-dollar bills. Accompanying her was Steve Chambers, who, though unemployed, had recently moved from his mobile home into a $635,000 mansion. A wiretap of Steve’s phone later unearthed a plot to murder David Ghantt, who was hiding in Mexico.
When the FBI arrested those involved in the heist and its aftermath, the public frenzy began. People were enthralled by the reckless extravagance, poor judgment, and peculiar taste of the perpetrators-through stories of a $43,000 diamond ring, breast implants, a faux tiger-skin stair runner, and a wooden Indian, all purchased with the stolen money.
Heist! is the account of an unlikely crime destined to be remembered less for its sophistication than for its colorful cast of true-life characters. The theft has been featured on ABC’s 20/20, America’s Most Wanted, and the Today show and was the subject of the Discovery Channel’s Unperfect Crime.

MY REACTIONS:

BEGINNING

MIDDLE

END

4 things that I’ve said while reading this.
1. “Oh, good start! :)”
2. “WHAT THE? I’m so confused. :(”
3. “Okay, I’m starting to understand it again.”
4. “It’s good that I made it to the end. I feel so MEH 😦 I thought that this was amazing. Unfortunately, it’s not what I expected.”
Okay. This book had a great start, seriously. I don’t know what happened. Maybe it just got too detailed or something. There are some points where this book got really interesting. There are also some points that this book got too boring. I got so confused that I wasn’t able to connect with the characters.
I’m pretty sure that if you’re a crime / true crime genre, you would love this book. It just didn’t get into my nerves. I’m sorry.
This book is going to be published in August 2015 by Sourcebooks Landmark.

Author Q&A – Kimberly Karalius

Kim Karalius (c) Phillippe DiederichLove Fortunes and Other DisastersSYNOPSIS OF HER BOOK FROM GOODREADS:

  • ASIDE FROM WRITING, WHAT KEEPS YOU BUSY?
I love reading, of course, and also watching television when I get the change. I’m terrible at keeping up with series, but I’m obsessed with Gotham currently. Going to Disney World is another hobby of mine. I try to go at least twice a month. Unless the parks are over capacity, it’s a relaxing experience for me – getting to stroll around, go on some rides, eat delicious food, and gather new story ideas from the people I meet and see. It’s wonderful.
  •  WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE YA NOVEL?
That’s such a hard question! I’m going to go with ECHO by Francesca Lia Block. It was the first Block book I ever read; I remember picking it off the shelf  in the library, enchanted by the mysterious girl on the cover with her fluttering, cinnamon hair and glittery eye. The novel itself is jammed with magical realism – even though I didn’t know what magical realism was at the time, I knew I wanted to write stories like that. Stories with bits and pieces of magic slipped in, seamless and breathtaking.
  •  WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO WRITE LOVE FORTUNES AND OTHER DISASTERS?
A few silly conversations I had with my fellow English majors in college. Girls severely outnumbered guys on campus, so finding a date was a challenge. We used to joke that we’d become glamourous spinsters after graduation, with mansions, butlers, and rooms full of cats (or dogs, for me. I’m not a cat person). I always wanted to turn that idea into a novel, but since I wanted to write YA, it was a little more difficult – and fun. After all, the town of Grimbaud and Zita’s love fortunes came soon after!
  • IT HAS A CATCHY TITLE. HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH IT?
Well, the original title was “We Could Fall in Love.” But Swoon Reads felt that a more specific, story-revealing title would be better. I went back and forth with the sales and editorial team for almost week before we found the perfect title!
  •  DESCRIBE YOUR BOOK TO NEW FANS.
LOVE FORTUNES AND OTHER DISASTERS is about a girl who is determined to fight her fate and make her own romantic future. When Fallon Dupree attends school in the town of Grimbaud her freshman year, she expects to recieve a great love fortune from Zita’s charm shop. But when her love fortune says that she will never fall in love, Fallon fights back by joining a rebellion of unlucky-in-love teens. She’ll have to work together with notorious heartbreaker, Sebastian, if she has any hope of succeeding.

  •  ARE YOU WORKING ON ANOTHER PROJECT?
Yes, actually! My next book with Swoon Reads is the sequel to LOVE FORTUNES. I’m getting ready for my first round of revisions.

  •  IF YES, HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE IT?
I can’t talk about it yet, except to say that it will have a new main character – one you’re already familiar with from the first book.

  •  ARE YOU PLANNING TO GO HERE IN THE PHILIPPINES?
Not any time soon, as far as I know. I’d love to go! I’ll just have to wait and see what the future holds!

book review
To be honest with you, I had a hard time diving into this book. I had a rough start and UGHHHHH I don’t know why.
Sad
Anyways, after a few pages, I finally got hooked up with this book. I didn’t notice that I’ve read more than 100 pages in 1 sitting. It became so fun and enjoyable. The story line was great and interesting. I loved the characters especially Emily and Frank.
Let’s talk about Emily.
Emily was the kind of girl whom everyone will love. I really wish that I have a friend like her. I also wish that she exists in real life #FICTIONPROBLEMS.
Here’s another thing that I really loved about this book. FRANK! Frank is so swoon-worthy. Everyone will surely love him. He’ll do everything. EVERYTHING. He’s my fave book boyfriend now.
IF I WOULD BE GIVEN THE CHANCE TO TALK TO HIM, I WOULD TELL HIM.
iloveyou
The ending is… THE.. ENDING.. IS…
I want more from Emily & Frank!!! I just wish that there’s a sequel about them.
Guys, if you’re looking for a perfect summery read, I totally recommend this to all of you. 🙂

   ME WHILE WRITING THIS REVIEW:tumblr_m5o73l9jDM1roj9wu

FACTS:
1. Etienne St. Clair is swoon-worthy.
2. Anna is slightly naughty.
3. Paris is where I want to be.
4. It’s indeed the CITY OF LOVE.

I’ve read this book 3 times but I’m still in love with Etienne. I think he’s really charming, caring and funny. Sometimes, I’m so annoyed to Anna but I understood her at some point. I loved the circle of friendship in this book. It’s so true. Uhm… another thing that I loved about this book is PARIS. Come on, guys! IT’S PARIS. PARIS ITSELF. I really want to wander in Paris someday.

2

*I’m really having a hard time reviewing this book* I don’t know how to precisely describe this book because it’s just too beautiful and enchanting. I really loved Perkins’ writing style because I know that every teenager can relate to this kind of story. It’s really a teenager-kind-of-thing. It’s exactly what I imagined. This book is beyond AMAZING.
Seriously, guys, I really don’t know how to describe this book. They need to update the dictionary.

{ I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THIS TO ALL OF YOU! YOU WILL LOVE ST. CLAIR. I ASSURE YOU. }

Anyways, I would love to say these words to Etienne St. Clair Gif-I-love-you_1
