synopsisn

Every so often, two people are born who are the perfect matches for each other. Soulmates. But while the odds of this happening are about as likely as being struck by lightning, when these people do meet and fall in love…thunderstorms, lightning strikes and lashings of rain are only the beginning of their problems.

Enter Poppy, the 17-year-old cynic with a serious addiction to banana milk, and Noah, the heart-throb guitarist; residents of mediocre Middletown, sometime students, and…soulmates.

After a chance meeting at a local band night, Poppy and Noah find themselves swept up in a whirlwind romance unlike anything they’ve ever experienced before. But with a secret international agency preparing to separate them, a trail of destruction rumbling in their wake, (and a looming psychology coursework deadline), they are left with an impossible choice between the end of the world, or a life without love…

Short review: Heartbreaking AF.

Long review:

You know that feeling when you thought the book is going to make you feel loved, but all of a sudden, it just effing tore you into pieces. Like WTF. Soulmates was indeed an extraordinary book written by someone who knows how to be a teen and knows how it feels like to be a teen. She really made justice with the blurb itself, “A love story to end the world”. It really did. When I was about to read the book, I thought I’ll just be expecting cheesy moments, you know? Do you believe that we’re born with Soulmates? This book will give you a peculiar explanation of having a soulmate. Like mind-blowing af.

Poppy Lawson is a (almost) perfect example of being a normal teenager. And she fell in love with someone…. (no spoilers, but the name of the guy appears on other books too). This story was written by Holly Bourne, obviously. I haven’t heard much about her, but I do know that she wrote Soulmates. Trust me, bookworms. She’s indeed one of a kind. If you haven’t read her books yet, I highly recommend that you drop your current read and start reading this book. I feel like she’s living inside a body of a teenage girl. I don’t know. Everything was just on point. And it broke my heart. <///3
